Yin Yoga
11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Wednesdays at Exhale Spa - Central Park South with Anna Carbonell Yin Yoga uses long, passive holds to work on the deep, dense connective tissues of the body - the tendons, ligaments and cartilage - which are difficult to energize and open. This deep, passive practice settles you into poses for 3-10 minutes, bringing you inward. This practice increases flexibility, especially in the spine and hips and is very restorative and rehabilitative for the joints and muscles. Psychologically, it connects you to your intuitive and creative self. It is an excellent complement to other Yoga or Core Fusion classes. This class is appropriate for men and women of all ages, fitness and flexibility levels. 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Wednesdays at 17 E 16TH ST STUDIO with Ellen Saltonstall A therapeutics class in which we use Kinetic Awareness and Anusara Yoga to address the concerns of students in the class. The class is slower paced than a regular class, with plenty of time for questions and working with the fundamental principles that support healing. Common problems which can be addressed with this program are muscle spasms, chronic or acute pain in the lower back, knees, neck and shoulders, as well as repetitive strain injury and recovery from illness or surgery. |
