Ashtanga in Rwanda AIR is a volunteer-based program which provides free Yoga instruction to HIV-positive women and children in Rwanda. By learning Yoga, they also have the opportunity to become teachers in their own right. It is an initiative of WE-ACTx, an international organization recognized for its efforts to bring comprehensive HIV care and treatment to genocide rape survivors and their families. In providing this access, WE-ACTx is breaking new ground as the first medical NGO to offer Yoga as part of its programmed services in Africa - or anywhere else. The program plans to move into Eastern Congo this year to work with traumatized rape victims of the current conflict there.
